There is 3 processes of treating colon cancer -  surgical operation, radiation therapy and chemotherapy.

Colon cancer surgical operation is the most widely-used technique of treating the disease. In colon cancer surgical operation, the part of the colon that is the tumor and the tainted tissue on it is abstracted, and then the left over parts of the colon is sewn together. Radiation therapy is a treatment that takes the use of high-powered rays that can wipe out the cancer cells. The reward of this process is that it can also wipe out the cancerous cells that have spread and weren’t discovered yet. Radiation therapy is mandatory when the cancer has spread to a different organ and the surgical process can’t remove them form there. The high-risk component of radiation therapy is that it has side effects that are diarrhea, tiredness or bladder irritation.

Chemotherapy utilizes special anti cancer drugs that are shot into the patient’s blood and spread through the complete body, wiping out all the cancer cells. This form of therapy is applied once the cancer has spread to several places and surgery or radiation process can’t treat such large areas. Regrettably chemotherapy has the most wicked side effects. The most common are hair loss, loss of appetite, being tired, easily bruising and bleeding, purging and diarrhea.
